A great announcement of debut album - 'Glorious' by Sudan Archives
'Glorious' is the latest single by American r'n'b singer Sudan Archives, a "slicing and boisterous [song], Parks’ impressive violin-playing serving as the pivot that the entire track hangs around", as Stereogum puts it. Her Bandcamp profile says she is self-taught on the violin, inspired by Sudanese fiddlers, R&B, West African rhythms, and experimental electronic music. Her debut album 'Athena' is out November 1, and in a press release for 'Glorious' video, she says the snake is a special representation of 'Athena': “He’s so sweet and cute, and he doesn’t want to hurt anybody, but everyone is afraid of him. I deal with that — men have told me, ‘You look intimidating’. Or someone will be like, ‘Smile!’ But I’m totally non-intimidating when you get to know me, I’m actually shy.” Watch the video below.
