Damon Albarn launches new orchestral project inspired by Iceland

Damon Albarn is turning to classical music as well, like some of his peers from the Brit-pop era - next year he is launching an entirely new project called The Nearer the Fountain, More Pure the Stream Flows. In May 2020, over the course of 12 shows in Europe, Albarn will perform a “new, very personal piece with an ensemble of orchestra instrumentation, electronics, vocals, and piano.” The work is reportedly inspired by the landscapes of Iceland over the last three decades and features visuals by Icelandic filmmakers.
