Tame Impala played two sold-out, maskless concerts on Friday in Perth, as Tame Impala Sound System sets, bringing a sense of normalcy down under where the Covid-numbers are quite low, while the rest of the world is pretty much quarantined, NME reports. Tame Impala’s TISS sees Parker and co. reimagine tracks from the band’s discography with synths, sequencers, and samplers, creating "pulsating, fully live and organic, free-flowing digital jam out”.

Tame Impala, Sampa The Great, Amy Shark and Archie Roach were among the big winners at the 2020 ARIA Awards, with Kevin Parker's psychedelic pop band taking home five awards including best group and album of the year for 'The Slow Rush'. Sampa The Great made history in 2019 when she became the first woman of color to win the ARIA for best hip-hop release, this year - she got it again. The singer and rapper also took out best female artist and best independent release for her debut full-length album 'The Return'.

Australian indie-pop band Lime Cordiale leads the pack for the 2020 ARIA Awards with eight nominations for their album '14 Steps to a Better You', including nods for album of the year and best group. Tame Impala is up for seven ARIAs with 'The Slow Rush', including a nod for album of the year. Hip-hop artist Sampa The Great is in the running for six ARIAs for her debut album 'The Return'. Also, among the nominees are Indigenous artist Miiesha, Britpop revivalists DMA’s, rockers Violent Soho, as well as Ruel, Amy Shark, Archie Roach, Jessica Mauboy, The Teskey Brothers, Tones and I, Troye Sivan, Cold Chisel, The Kid LAROI, Baker Boy and others.

Tame Impala have announced a partnership with the nonprofit REVERB in adopting eco-friendly initiatives, in order to reduce environmental waste while on tour, Happy Mag reports. The collaboration will include free filtered water refill stations at shows to reduce single-use plastic waste, Eco-Villages where fans can learn more about environmental nonprofits, and the band will fund projects that eliminate greenhouse gases, donate unused food and hotel toiletries to local shelters, recycle backstage and on tour buses, use reusable water bottles for all band members and crew, and more.

Justin Bieber's 'Changes' earned 231,000 equivalent album units in the U.S last week (126,000 in album sales, 101,000 are in SEA units, and 4,000 are in TEA units), which landed him on top of Billboard's album chart. Australian psychedelic-pop wonder-man Kevin Parker has his fourth Tame Impala album 'The Slow Rush' out, and critics really like it. PopMatters goes philosophical in its review - "the record is the mark of a rare talent, and yet also someone who lives in both doubt and curiosity amidst his talent and success"; the Clash calls the album a "testament to the patient productivity and unrelenting creativity", similar to MusicOMH who praise Kevin Parker as "a true auteur, an artist who has moulded pop music to match his incredible vision", and the Skinny said Parker has "his own unique sense of time"; NME hears the album as a step into mega-pop with "exhilarating" results; Pitchfork says it's "an extraordinarily detailed opus" with an "internal tug of war within the Australian musician’s lyrics—between trying to better yourself and stay present, or succumbing to your own worst thoughts".
