Hipgnosis Songs Capital has announced that they have acquired Justin Bieber’s 100% interest in his Publishing Copyrights, Master Recordings and Neighboring Rights for Bieber’s entire back catalog, comprising over 290 titles released before December 31, 2021. The deal, worth $200 million, as reported by Billboard, is the largest rights sale for any artist of Bieber’s generation. It’s also Hipgnosis’ biggest acquisition to date.

"Cancel your Dec. 5 performance in Saudi Arabia. This is a unique opportunity to send a powerful message to the world that your name and talent will not be used to restore the reputation of a regime that kills its critics" - Hatize Cengiz, fiance of the late journalist and Washington Post contributing columnist Jamal Khashoggi, wrote in an open letter to Justin Bieber. "Do not sing for the murderers of my beloved Jamal. Please speak out and condemn his killer, Mohammed bin Salman. Your voice will be heard by millions. If you refuse to be a pawn of MBS, your message will be loud and clear: I do not perform for dictators. I choose justice and freedom over money".

Justin Bieber's newest release 'Justice' debuts on top of Billboard 200 chart with 154,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S. in the week ending March 25, Billboard reports. It's his eighth No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart - all 10 of Bieber’s charting albums have reached the top 10, and he’s only missed the top slot twice. Bieber this week also stops the chart-topping domination of Morgan Wallen’s 'Dangerous: The Double Album', which spent 10 consecutive weeks in a row (it's at No. 3 this week). Lana Del Rey’s 'Chemtrails Over the Country Club' debuts at No. 2 with 75,000 equivalent album units earned.

Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, The Weeknd, and Dan + Shay were the top winners at the American Music Awards, winning three awards each, Variety reports. With three nods from last night, Taylor has now won 32 AMAs, the most awards in the show’s 47-year history (Michael Jackson has 24). Swift won artist of the year for the sixth time, extending her record in that category. She also won favorite female artist - pop/rock for the fifth time, setting a new record in that category; Taylor accepted her awards via video since she is busy re-recording her first six albums. Bieber won favorite male artist - pop/rock for the fourth time, a record. See the full list of all winners - here.

Justin Bieber's 'Changes' earned 231,000 equivalent album units in the U.S last week (126,000 in album sales, 101,000 are in SEA units, and 4,000 are in TEA units), which landed him on top of Billboard's album chart. At 25, Bieber is the youngest solo artist to achieve seven No. 1 albums (previously, the record was held by Elvis Presley, who was 26 at the time of his 7th No. 1 album). Three more albums reached the top 10 at Billboard 200 - A Boogie Wit da Hoodie’s 'Artist 2.0' debuts at No. 2 with 111,000 equivalent album units (nearly all from streaming activity), Tame Impala achieves its highest charting album ever on the Billboard 200, as 'The Slow Rush' bows at No. 3 with 110,000 equivalent album units (with 80,000 of that in album sales), and Monsta X rounds out the new arrivals in the top 10, as the six-member South Korean vocal group makes its Billboard 200 chart debut at No. 5 with its 'All About Luv', sold in 52,000 equivalent album units (50,000 of that sum comprising album sales).

King Princess

'Ohio' is a live favourite by King Princess; Moon Destroys have Mastodon's Troy Sanders on their psychedelic new song 'Blue Giant'; Myrkur go for strange, albeit easy-listening mix of Nordic folk and dream pop on 'Leaves od Yggdrasil'; Bay Area rapper The Jacka was killed in a 2015 shooting at 37 years old, and 'Can't Go Home' is his collaboration with Freddie Gibbs, coming out on his first posthumous album; Johanna Warren goes for simple and pretty on 'Bed of Nails'; Justin Bieber released a nice song 'Intentions' with a great message; The Strokes are back, drumless, with 'At the Door'; Poet laureate Simon Armitage launched a band LYR, mixing poetry, jazz and post-rock; Napalm Death released their first new songs in four years - an original 'Logic Ravaged by Brute Force' and a Sonic Youth cover 'White Cross'; I Break Horses go spacey psychedelia on 'I'll Be the Death of You'; Figazi people have a new band Coriky, much more laid down on 'Clean Kill'; Nigerian guitarist Mdou Moctar follows his last year's great 'Ilana' with a song 'Ibitlan', equally groovy and rich; Caroline Rose wrote 'Freak Like Me' because "I’ve always wanted to write a pretty song with the word ‘vomit’ in it"; Drain play just some straight punk-metal from California on 'Sick One'. Listening to all of these takes an hour or so, take that time, it's worth it!

The first episode of Justin Bieber's docuseries 'Seasons' has broken a record for YouTube with 32,65 million views in its first week. That beat out original comedy 'Liza On Demand' Season 2 debut (25.4 million) and the first episode of 'Cobra Kai' Season 2 (21 million). YouTube paid upwards of $20 million for the 10-part Bieber docuseries, making it YouTube’s most expensive content acquisition to date.

Justin Bieber likes Tool, Tool don't like Bieber liking them, so DJ Cummerband stepped in to make amends. He made a mashup of Tool's 'Parabola' and Bieber's 'Love Yourself' into 'Love Your Parabola' with (mostly) their music and (mostly) his vocals, with a little help from Ludacris. It's a different song now, but it works […]

Newly-married Justin Bieber published a pregnancy-themed April Fool's joke, which many found funny, others branded the star "shameful" and "disgusting". Bieber apologised clarifying that he "didn't mean at all to be insensitive to people who can't have children", and that it was "'APRIL FOOLS'". Dr Pamela Rutledge, director of the US-based Media Psychology Research Center, […]

The nordic country will temporarily shut down the Fjaðrárgljúfur canyon this June due to damage caused by foot traffic that they attribute to Bieber’s fans. “This canyon was somewhat unknown,” Daníel Freyr Jónsson, head of the country’s environment agency said. “The great increase in foot traffic began after Bieber came. "I’ve toured my whole teenage life, and early 20s, I realized and as you guys probably saw I was unhappy last tour and I don’t deserve that and you don’t deserve that, you pay money to come and have a lively energetic fun light concert and I was unable emotionally to give you that near […]

“I haven’t talked about this, and I’m still processing so much stuff that I haven’t talked about. I was lonely. I needed some time” - Justin Bieber opens up in a cover-interview for Vogue. And an interesting stand on religion: “But I don’t believe in all the religious elitism and pretentiousness, like people are better […]
