Foo Fighters' Dave Grohl directed a new movie about touring vans and life on the road called 'What Drives Us', featuring interviews with Lars Ulrich, Slash, the Edge, Flea, Steven Tyler, St. Vincent, and many others. “This film is my love letter to every musician that has ever jumped in an old van with their friends and left it all behind for the simple reward of playing music” - Grohl said.

Mick Jagger and Dave Grohl have just released their first song together, a lockdown-themed number 'Eazy Sleazy' written by Jagger and performed by both the rock stars. The Rolling Stone says to the Consequence it's the only song he's written on the subject of lockdown, in a "semi-humorous way", just like the lyric “Shooting the vaccine/ Bill Gates is in my bloodstream/ It’s mind control".

The Foo Fighters leader has announced 'The Storyteller: Tales of Life and Music', a memoir made as a spinoff from his pandemic Instagram account, @davestruestories, through which he shares tales from his music career. Grohl emphasizes that he wrote the book himself, without a ghostwriter. In the YouTube player below, hear an 11-minute extract from the book, narrated by Grohl himself. The book, due out October 5 through Dey Street Books, is available to pre-order from the newly launched website davegrohlstoryteller.com.

Nirvana still have jam sessions

An amazing and heartwarming segment from the Howard Stern Show with the Foo Fighters this week when former Nirvana members Dave Grohl and Pat Smear reminisced about Nirvana. Stern asked Smear whether he still listens to old Nirvana stuff to which he responded he doesn't need to because - "every once in a while, me and Krist and Dave get together and we do play as if we're Nirvana, so I don't have to miss it - we do it". Grohl added they even recorded some stuff. Foo Fighters frontman also talked about how his 11-year-old daughter had asked him about Nirvana for the first time, and how they listened to it together also for the first time. She wanted to know whether Kurt Cobain was shy.

Dave Grohl and producer/multi-instrumentalist Greg Kurstin unveiled the fourth installment in their Hanukkah cover song series with a cover of Peaches' 'Fuck the Pain Away'. Grohl and Kurstin are celebrating Hanukkah with covers of songs by eight prominent Jewish artists - so far the pair has covered Beastie Boys’ epic 'Sabotage', Drake's 'Hotline Bling', and Mountain’s 'Mississippi Queen'.

Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl met "a rock star" - a 10-year-old drummer Nandi Bushell from England. The two had a drum-off battle online this fall, so during this Monday's 40-minute meeting organized by the New York Times, Grohl told Nandi "I feel like I'm meeting a Beatle". During the chat, Dave Grohl invited Bushell to play with the Foo Fighters when they come to England, they exchanged stories of how they first started playing the drums, agreed to write a song together, and had a "jam".

10-year-old drummer phenomenon Nandi Bushell has penned a theme song for her rival-idol Dave Grohl called 'Rock and Grohl, the Epic Battle', following a theme song Grohl wrote for Bushell last month, Louder reports. Sharing her original song on YouTube, Bushell wrote - “Mr Grohl. The song you wrote for me was truly, truly EPIC! You really are LEGENDARY! I wrote a song for you to say THANK YOU! I made up and played all the instrument parts myself, just like you! It’s called ‘ROCK and GROHL, The EPIC Battle’... Whoever wins this round, it’s been an HONOUR to battle you. The Rock Gods of old are happy!".

Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl has shared a video of a new theme song he wrote for the 19-year-old drummer-wunderkind Nandi Bushell. Grohl plays guitar, drums, and bass on the track, while his daughters (The Grohlettes) provide backing vocals - “She got the power/ She got the soul/ Gonna save the world with her rock and roll!”. Bushell reacted to the video saying “I can't believe Mr. Grohl wrote a song about me!?!".Tweet Fighters

Well, this is just really sweet: 10-year-old drum-sensation Nandi Bushell accepted Dave Grohl's challenge for a drum-off, and - matched the Foo Fighters' leader performance of Them Crooked Vultures’ 'Dead End Friends'. In her YouTube description, Bushell said - "Thank you for giving me this incredible opportunity. I am extremely grateful. The Rock Gods of old are happy!”. It all started when Bushell invited Grohl for a match-off by playing Foo Fighters' 'Everlong'. He accepted, played 'Dead End Friends' himself, and has now acknowledged defeat, but teased there’s more to come from the two - “Ok, @Nandi_Bushell ……you win round one….but it ain’t over yet! Buckle up, cuz I have something special in mind…”.

10-year-old drum sensation Nandi Bushell challenged the Foo Fighters leader Dave Grohl to a drum-off. She released a video of herself playing Foo Fighters' 'Everlong' and invited him to a drum-off challenge. He then released a video saying he was flattered by her choice and complimented her playing. However, he challenged her to a drum-off and offered her a song 'Dead End Friends' from his other band Them Crooked Vultures (Grohl + QOTSA's Josh Homme + Led Zeppelin's John Paul Jones).

In today’s world of fear and unease and social distancing, it's hard to imagine sharing experiences like these ever again. I don’t know when it will be safe to return to singing arm in arm at the top of our lungs, hearts racing, bodies moving, souls bursting with life. But I do know that we will do it again, because we have to. It’s not a choice. We’re human. We need moments that reassure us that we are not alone - Dave Grohl, The Atlantic.

"I think that drumming as songwriting is very important - more than any sort of technical proficiency, to have it be as melodic or musical as all the other instruments" - Dave Grohl says in a Rolling Stone interview with Ringo Starr about drumming as songwriting. And then there's this Starr's song - "I think […]

Rick Astley

Dave Grohl played a concert in London with Rick Astley, an unusual pairing, but Mark, My Words thinks there should be more of it: "Simon had Garfunkel. Bowie had Iggy. The Beatles had Ringo... Primal Scream had Kate Moss, Oasis had Paul Weller, I’m pretty sure Radiohead had Stephen Hawking... Dave Grohl’s Astley bromance feels […]

The surviving members of Nirvana - Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear - reunited last weekend (Oct. 6) at Cal Jam 18 in San Bernardino, Calif. They were joined by special guests Joan Jett and Deer Tick's John McCauley, with McCauley leading the band through "Serve the Servants," "Scentless Apprentice" and "In Bloom," before […]

Foo Fighters' Dave Grohl played drums for an energetic horn-filled rendition of Nirvana's 'In Bloom', during a surprise appearance with Trombone Shorty and The Preservation Hall Jazz Band at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles last weekend. This is only the second time Grohl has played 'In Bloom' live since Nirvana’s split - the first […]

“For years I couldn’t even listen to any music, let alone a Nirvana song. When Kurt died, every time the radio came on, it broke my heart” Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl sad GQ in an interview. He adds, “I don’t put Nirvana records on, no. Although they are always on somewhere. I get in the car, […]
