SZA’s SOS racks up a seventh consecutive week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart with 111,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S. in the week ending Jan. 26, Billboard reports. 'SOS' is also the first R&B/hip-hop album by a woman, or R&B album by any act, to spend its first seven weeks at No. 1 since Whitney Houston’s 'Whitney' in 1987. The last album by a woman with seven weeks at No. 1 was Taylor Swift’s 'Folklore', more than two years ago.

Adele’s new album ’30’ blasts in at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart with 839,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S. in the week ending Nov. 25, debuting with the largest week of 2021 for any album. Album sales comprise 692,000, making it easily the largest sales week of the year for any album. Further, '30' is the biggest-selling album of the entire year with 692,000 in sales, surpassing the total sales of any album over the past 11 months combined, Billboard reports.

Adele has gone back to number one in the UK with her new single 'Easy On Me', scoring the biggest chart figures for almost five years - she had a record 24 million streams in the UK in its first week as well as 23,500 downloads. That is equivalent to 217,300 sales - the highest since Ed Sheeran's 'Shape of You' in January 2017, UK Official Charts reports. In the album chart, Coldplay's 'Music of the Spheres' became the fastest-selling record of the year so far, with 101,000 chart sales, Charts reports.

ABBA 'Gold' is the first album with 1,000 weeks on U.K. chart

ABBA's greatest hits album 'Gold' reached a landmark 1000 weeks on the Official Albums Chart Top 100, the first album to do so in UK chart history. ABBA's 'Gold' was released in September 1992, debuting at Number 1, and has gone on to be the UK's second best-selling album of all time -behind Queen's 'Greatest Hits' - with pure sales of 5.61 million, according to Official Charts Company data.

Olivia Rodrigo tops three charts in one week

Olivia Rodrigo scores her first Number One on the Rolling Stone Artists 500 Chart this week to the tune of a staggering 283.7 million streams. As her debut album 'Sour' rules the Billboard 200 albums chart and 'Good 4 U' leads the Rolling Stone 100, Rodrigo becomes only the third female artist to sweep all three charts in one week, Rolling Stone reports.

The US chart authority, Billboard has created a ranking of the most popular songs in the U.S. based on Twitter conversations, Bloomberg reports. The chart, called “the Billboard Hot Trending Powered by Twitter”, is unusual for Billboard in that it’s not measuring what people are listening to, but what they talk about.

Chris Cornell's posthumously released cover of the Guns N’ Roses classic 'Patience' has just reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Songs chart, making it the first time for a Cornell solo song to reach No. 1 on the Mainstream Rock tally, which tracks radio airplay across the United States. Cornell’s take on the GN’R ballad was released by his family on July 20th, in commemoration of what would have been the late rocker’s 56th birthday, Billboard reports. With Soundgarden, Cornell earned six No. 1 singles on the Mainstream Rock chart from 1994 through 2013. He also scored two chart-toppers with Audioslave.

Phil Collins' song 'In the Air Tonight' saw a 1,110% increase in sales after a viral video of two brothers reacting to the song while listening to it for the first time, CoS reports.
