A group of prominent musicans are among the signers of an open letter calling for the European Union to adopt a new law cracking down on deforestation, as part of its efforts to tackle the climate emergency. Coldplay, Brian Eno, Sting, Robyn, Barbra Streisand, Bryan Adams and David Gilmour, are among the musical signatures, next to veteran climate campaigners, as well as actors, directors and activists. Harold Budd, the iconic avant-garde ambient composer, has died aged 84 due to COVID-19, Rolling Stone reports. He frequently collaborated with Brian Eno, and The Cocteau Twins' guitarist Robin Guthrie, as well as XTC’s Andy Partridge, Ultravox’s John Foxx, Public Image Ltd’s Jah Wobble, and more. Over the past 40 years, Budd has released dozens of albums in a wide range of genres, including experimental piano, avant-garde minimalism, dream pop, and beyond.

Brian Eno releases his first video

Brian Eno has debuted his first-ever music video - for 'Decline and Fall' from his upcoming compilation, 'Film Music 1976-2020'. 'Decline and Fall' originally appeared in a chilling Brazilian serial killer biopic 'O Nome da Morte' ('A Man Called Death'), by Henrique Goldman, who directed the video. The clip cautions against the evils of greed using two overlapping narratives - one focuses on mankind’s destruction of the Earth for capitalist gain (deforestation, wildfires), while the other follows an assassin who kills for money.

Brian Eno has released a new song 'Everything’s on the Up with the Tories', a political satire aimed at UK's Conservative Party (colloquially known as The Tories). It's a fun song, about some not-so-funny subjects like Brexit, National Health Service, unemployment, the pay gap, Donald Trump. All proceeds from it go to aid the homeless.

Brian Eno conceptualized a new approach to music through dedicated use of tape loops and sampling, smuggling ideas previously offered by the avant-garde into the pop/rock lexicon, eventually breaking free to codify the ambient music genre and presage music created by algorithms and apps with generative music, Exclaim says in their context-article about Eno.

From club session, through ambient soothers to vinyl-only obscurities, Fact Magazine made a list of "must-hear mixes of the last 30 days". There's Jubilee’s Miami take on Pride, DJ Marcelle’s three-turntable magic, an old-fashioned mixtape from Boards of Canada, Brian Eno in political storytelling mode, a fast and flamboyant Essential Mix by the seminal French […]

Asteroid's full name, just as the singer's, is "Brian Peter George St John le Baptiste de la Salle Eno”, but it's "Eno" for friends (of music and space), and much prettier than it's original name “81948 (2000 OM69)”. Apart from being honored by the Southwest Research Institute, the International Astronomical Union and the Minor Planet […]
