Mark Ronson's manager: Real artists are breaking very big, very fast because there’s a thirst for superstars
Working with visionaries, and spreading their gospel has become harder and harder to do but when it does happen, it happens even bigger than it used to. Lizzo and Billie Eilish are perfect examples; real artists are breaking very big, very fast because there’s a thirst for superstars - Brandon Creed, manager of Mark Ronson, Charli XCX, co-manager of Lizzo, former manager of Bruno Mars, told Music Business Worldwide in an interview. Copyright lawsuits are becoming more frequent, he notices - "there’s definitely an ambulance-chasing, bottom-feeding approach that seems to be happening in the songwriting and publishing world today... extortion tactics are becoming increasingly more rampant". His credo with musicians he's managing is to "seriously protect your artist, help execute their vision, and fight for their right to achieve their goals". Advice he would give his younger self is - "Have confidence. Stand your ground. Believe in yourself, and trust your gut. And have a little bit more fun!".
