'Domestic Disco' - how being a mom, a DJ, and a wife with an on-the-road husband made for a unique album
A story in the Guardian about an amazing project - album 'Home' made by Brazilian-British duo Mixhell. They are keyboardist and singer Laima Leyton, an art-gallerist and techno DJ, and drummer Igor Cavalera, a drummer in metal bands Sepultura, Nailbomb and Cavalera Conspiracy. While at home with their five children, Leyton would record poems over synths and send it to her husband who was abroad, playing. He made rhythm parts inspired by her music, and rather than syncing them together into a digital album, 'Home' is a vinyl-only release of two albums packaged together. 'Tonal' (Leyton) and 'Rhythmical' (Cavalera) have to be played simultaneously on two different turntables, to show the effort and the communication undergone (a digital single is planned for 2020). Guardian describes 'Home' as an album full of "sharp, precise electronic pop". It's out today.
