Copyright trials: Ennio Morricone May Reclaim Copyright to Film Scores

The U.S. Court of Appeals has ruled that iconic film composer Ennio Morricone may reclaim the copyrights to six of his film scores from the late ’70s and early ’80s. In another copyright case, Eminem' publishing company Eight Mile Style filed a massive copyright infringement lawsuit against Spotify. The lawsuit claims that Spotify has no license to host about 250 of Eminem’s songs including many of his biggest hits, and making "random payments of some sort, which only purport to account for a fraction of those streams”. She songs were placed under a licensing category called 'Copyright Control', a designation given to songs with an unknown copyright owner, which Eight Mile calls “absurd” since the copyright owner is “one of the most well-known songs in history”, The Hollywood Reporter reports.
