Share
On the Beaches of Portima, Portugal there were 20,000 people of African descent last weekend at Afro Nation, the first festival in the world to celebrate the African Diaspora. It was festival's first year, and in four days it saw live music from Nigeria, Ghana, Tanzania, Jamaica, the UK and the US, performers like Burna Boy, Davido, Busy Signal and Buju Banton, J Hus, Ms Dynamite, Stefflon Don, Octavian, Mostack, Ms Banks... The man behind it - a 34-year-old Nigerian promoter from Dagenham, who goes by the name SMADE, real name Adesegun Adeosun Jr. The idea behind it - creating an "unforgettable experience" that would "celebrate love, peace, unity and the beauty of African culture". BBC was there.
