R. Kelly "arrested on federal sex trafficking charges"

R. Kelly has been arrested in Chicago on sex trafficking charges, and is being held in custody. There are said to be 13 charges against the singer, including child abuse images and obstruction of justice. He's already pleaded not guilty to more than 20 sexual offences. R. Kelly began paying thousands of dollars in 2001 to recover videotapes of himself having sex with teenage girls, federal prosecutors say, as CNN reports. The indictments released Friday allege Kelly recruited women for sex, persuaded people to conceal that he had sexual contact with teenage girls and spent hundreds of thousands of dollars buying back the missing videotapes. The New Yorker insists new indictments against R. Kelly are an indictment of the music industry since his behaviour was a well known secret among journalists, music critics, radio programmers, concert promoters, and record-company executives.
