The 1975, Wiley and Idles win songwriting Ivor Novello awards

The 1975 won songwriters of the year for their album, 'A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships' and best contemporary song for 'Love It If We Made It', at the 2019 Ivor Novello songwriting awards, Independent reports. The organizers praised The 1975's efforts as "a bold, inspirational and original statement, bringing together an awareness of contemporary issues without resorting to cliché". Dido won Outstanding song collection award, Idles won Best album award for their 'Joy As An Act of Resistance', and Wiley won Ivors inspiration award. The prestigious awards celebrate excellence in British and Irish songwriting and composing for songs, albums, TV, film and video game scores released in 2018. See all nominees and winners here.
