Peter Doherty: I love life

Guardian has a beautiful interview with Peter Doherty, who is still alive, and still on heroin. He's 40 now, and has an album out - 'Peter Doherty and the Puta Madres'. But, it's his life what they talk about, not music. Why is he still on heroin? - "Because my brain thinks I enjoy it. My heart wants to know what the fuck is going on. Why am I wasting my time and money and friendship and love and energy and creativity on some grotty dessert?”. Were he drug-free “I’d be a force to be reckoned with! I’d have money and self-respect and clean hands.” Still, he's a content and happy man: "I love life. I squeeze everything I can out of the day. I mourn every passing fucking dawn".
